    I am now an expert welder!!! ; - >

Wow, last night was my first attempt at MIG welding sheetmetal to cover bullet holes in the doors as well as replacing the bottom rusted out area of the door. The small areas were OK but I did end up filling in lots of burn throughs. After I ground down the welds they looked OK. One of the...

    New welder qustion too...

I run a Lincoln 110V and actually like using Flux Core, sure the welds are not as pretty but I'm able to weld thicker material than when running MIG. For thin stuff I do use MIG but I need more practice at it since it welds differently than with Flux Core filler. Over and out, Sid

Can a leaf spring be shortened?

I just had to ask. I was reading about it on another forum where it was suggested it was OK to do. I of course don't believe anything I read and about half of what I see, so I had to ask. 26" is exaclty what I'm looking for but I might need a little higher rating. I know of a trailer shop in...

Can a leaf spring be shortened?

I’m pretty sure I know the answer is “don’t do it” but I’m going to ask. In an effort to save $, I’d like to reuse one of the front leaf springs currently on my truck as a transverse spring over the front axle. The current spring is about 6 inches longer than I require so I was thinking about...

    Photoshop Fun

Bored tonight, so I played around a bit with Photoshop and added signage to the side of my cab. I tried to make it look rustic but it's still a little sharp, and I'm not too keen on the design, buy I tried. I think I get overwhelmed with all the colors and font styles to choose from. I've added...

    Rusted out in Oregon

Here's another picture of the garage back in 44' and a piece of artwork my aunt did in 45'. It doesn't look like much was going on then, other than WWII. I've been hounding my older siblings on information about the garage and trying to round up more pictures. I remember as a youngster...

    Rusted out in Oregon

I did use an engine degreaser in the dishwasher. Ya, it was funny but my wife didn't see the humor it. Yes, I was going to try and paint on the "Bland's Garage" lettering on the side of the truck and try to make it look as worn as the paint that's already on there. Sid

    Rusted out in Oregon

Hello, I’m not sure where, but a few months back I ran across a picture of a Rat Rod. It was a very odd feeling that came over me as I looked at the rusty, no doubt loud, piece of art with 4 wheels. I new right then I had to build one. I picked up a 1942 Ford truck cab that I’ll work with. I...
