At a fellow users request, a little NASCAR infusion

I know what you mean about the 93 season. Davey and Alan were my favored, and on July 11 1993 I got to meet Davey in person and got his autograph. To here about his death two day later really got to me.

    Global Warming?

We got 12 inches of Global warming in are area over the weekend. Trees down all over the area and some people will not get there power back until Friday or Saturday. The township looks like a war zone and some roads are still closed. My rambler has 12 inches of snow on it.

    PCV valve hookup?

On that engine there should be about a 1 inch spacer plate under the carb with a port coming out of the back of it. The PVC hose should come from the right valve cover to that port on the spacer block. The port in the intake behind the carb is for your power brake and any other vacuum that is...

    A HI-po trumps a po-po

Some people just think they are above the law. There was a local EMS unit that use to go light and sirens to pick up lunch at the local McDonalds until they were reported. They both lost there jobs for being stupid. Also being an instructor and one of the courses I teach is emergency vehicle...

    Wood heat

Sure did as a fire fighter. The guy built one and put it in his house on a wooden floor floor. The thing burnt through the floor and ended up in the basement. The house was a total loss. Just make sure you keep it away from combustible materials and keep and air gap under it and have it setting...

    '49 F-1 big block/auto trans swap

Here some pictures of my 48 with an early Camaro clip. also the Ford 9 inch out of a 1957-72 Ford pickup is a bolt in and the right width. If you use another rear it should be about 61 1/4 inches from hub to hub.

    '49 F-1 big block/auto trans swap

Now sure about a 78 Nova clip but the early Camaro/Nova clip practically slide into the Ford F1 frame. If you go that root the engine and trans should bolt right in. If you sue the original frame there are mounts out there that makes it an easy swap.

    Don't people build reliability anymore

That common for a FE engine.

    Don't people build reliability anymore

Ran into that many of times. The best one was the 1958 rambler I bought. The guy claims he was a certified Restoration mechanic ( Maybe in his dreams). Everything that he toughed I had to go over or replace. Instead of tools on his work bench he should should have meat cleavers and knifes...

    Ranger or S10 Chassis

Yes they were until 1998 when they went to a arms. One problem that you can run into lowering the Twin- beams axles is that the camber can change and be a real pain to play with.

    right hand drive?

I had a 1968 Mustang years ago that came back from England. It was right hand drive and a real pain in the butt to drive. Shifter was on the wrong side and judging car in the other lane was not easy.

The numbers you are looking for should be on the block behind the left head (D.S.) But I can tell what those numbers are. 5.7Lg -is a 350 block. SGI -is the metal used to cast the block.

How good on gas is your rat rod????

Never check the mileage. I just look at the gauge and when it hit 1/4 I fill it. My modern day hotrod gets about 12 MPG. If I put my foot into the supercharger I get about 10 but I have a big smile on me face when I am doing it. Nothing like a street driven hotrod with 547 HP.

    passenger side locks?

What he said. My grandfather use to tell me that you would get a find if you were caught opening the door into traffic lane. Had to be a real pain if you had to make a quick stop with someone in the passenger side.

    Need help with cooling

You did not say what kind of car it in. First I would drop to a 160 thermostate and make sure that no air can roll around from the engine compartment to the front of the radiator, Box it in between the grille and the Radiator. Check the timing to make sure its were it should be. Third make...
