While I was rummaging around under my truck, I kept seeing the rusted out back of the cab, [pic one]. Not only is the back three quarters of the cab not really hooked to the floor anymore, I don't want the registration inspector seeing this and frowning. I thought I better fix it up, so I planed...

    Homemade metal lathe.

OS, I wasn't really shooting for the 'mad scientist' label, but I'm fairly proud of my 'out of the box' thinking.

Heck of a story Gene. Not a lot of people can look at their life and say "I've got to change me". That's powerful stuff.

I was bragging that I had a friend that had a similar car to yours, well I finally found a picture of it.

    Homemade metal lathe.

This is a stationary piece that has a notch in it to allow me to work on the end of a shaft, such as cutting a 'snap-ring groove'. You'll see the second picture that I bushed the one inch ID female end down to a 3/4" bushing to fit the spinning shaft.

Hi and Welcome, from northern Alberta. We like to watch the building of cars so bring it on. I'll be watching. I have a friend that has a Cadillac flathead in a Model A roadster.

The first picture is the gizmo that I made for the tail pedestal on my lathe. Now I will be able to work on the end of shafts, especially installing snap-ring grooves. On the old truck, I got the passenger-side spring bolted to the rear-end, [pic two]. [pic three] is a brake line fitted in. [pic...

Thanks OI. There was no progress today, because I got sidetracked, making a new piece for my lathe. Hopefully, I now can make snap-ring grooves in long shafts.

You know that old 'hotrod builders dance', one step forward and three steps back, then repeat. Well, --- I've had some negative progress lately, with no pictures to show on it, so, 'it didn't happen', right? Raising the truck back up a few inches and hooking up the shocks, hasn't gone well, but...

Anybody build a Traditional hot rod??

I was pretty sure that I built a hotrod, but I don't know that it's 'traditional'.

I'm no good in line-ups. I only had a great big bag of dogfood in my cart As I crept forward in the line-up at the Handi-Mart Boredom was setting in as we all wished to progress. The woman in front of me, turned and checked out my prize. She exclaimed, "Ahh, do you have a dog?". Not a surprise...

Anybody build a Traditional hot rod??

Does it count if I hid almost all of the newer stuff and made the hotrod look old?

I had to take one rear old shock off and rebuild it earlier, so today I remounted it, [pic one]. [pic two] is the spring pack with a two inch lowering block on it. [pic three] is the lowering block removed. [pic four] is the U-bolts getting a change over. I cut them off shorter and now I have to...

I could do it that way, [rewriting], except for another handicap that I forgot to tell you about. ------ I'm kinda' lazy.

I've taken a small step today, but a really big step also. I aired up the tires in this truck as they were getting a bit spongy, [pic one]. It got me started back on my main project again and that is a big deal. [pic two] is a view of the truck and [pic three] is looking through the hole in the...
