Back before WWII in East Los Angeles, there was a group of early rodders who were building what they called "roadsters" out of a bunch of scrapyard parts on modified Model A frames.
OK, for those of you who don't know about it...there is a border war going on in south central Missouri...Blue Eye, Mo. Arkansas people are throwing sticks of dynamite across the border into Missouri....Missourians are LIGHTING them and throwing them back!
for stuff that is. found a mid 70's VW bug in the local wrecking yard.
really cut up, but, still had the e-brake handle which I was looking for.
5 bucks later and it was mine.
got it mounted today and now need to build a cover.
since I'm not running outside headers on the roadster I made a couple of heat shields from some 6"x 24" stainless shelves sitting in my scrap pile.
The large cutout is for the crossmember and the small ones for the tranny fill.
installed the back "glass" (1/4" lexan) getting the top tightened up and tacked in place.
I don't think the local experts are worried about their jobs :)
