I love that orange truck I even had a inline 6 in mine just was too spendy to make it look nice and wanted v8. But love the overall look. Just seen more pictures of them with hoods an they starting to grow on me specially since i have both in decent shape.

I'm building a 48 F1. My build thread it F1 Ratty. Im Getting ready to build my frame and just want to know what I'm going for before I start cutting and welding.

Need help deciding what direction to take my build. I'm happy with both just cant force myself one way or the other. What would you do? Leaning more toward using the hood and original grill.

Sold off the old 250. Picked up a nice 305. Have everything laid out where i want it to be. 8in of ride height and a 128in wheel base. Ordered my frame steel earlier this week, so that will be here this weekend. Front hairpins and clevis ends have been ordered to start constructing my front axle.

Picked up a dirt cheap Chevy 305 tonight. Now hunting for a transmission and then I just have to order steel for the new frame. I should be off an going here soon

More progress tonight. The bed was rusty enough that I could just pound out the bolts. Being only navy truck the bed had a metal top over the wood bed. Left the fenders on cause I didnt want to mess with trying to get all those bolts out or cut them. Cab unbolted easily and came right off.

So I did some checking and found out that the old sign on the door has some stickering left over. It was an old U.S Navy truck

So started stripping down to see what condition everything is in. Few rust through spots under running boards and that was about it. Got the front clip off today. Took some time, the bolts were pretty rusty!

I'll be starting the tear down process next weekend. From there plan my frame and order up material.

So I picked this complete 49 F1 up fairly cheap. All there except trim pieces. Solid cab no through rust except the floor is starting to get thing where the trani is. Bed floor is rusted out but has solid sides. Came with a Chevy 250 inline 6 and a 4spd truck trani. Plan is to custom build my...
