    No turning back now !

Well the crossmember is in, engine mounts built now I’m working on mounting an Ididit steering column that I found in a scrapyard. My intention to put in a 350 Chevy is nixed, I would need to cut the firewall and tunnel back 2 inches which is not really much of an issue, but the wiper motor and...

    Spring question

Ok, I’ve settled on 300lb rate springs for the front of the Falcon, they come as 13.5 length and you have to cut them to fit. How in the heck do you determine that ???

    No sway bar ?

I just got my tubular lower control arms and I discovered there’s no provision to mount a sway bar. After looking at a bunch of Mustang 2 suspension kits, I see that alot of them don’t have a sway bar, is it normal to run without one ?

    No turning back now !

Hopefully by tomorrow night I’ll have this big void in my Falcon filled with a Mustang 2 crossmember.

    Ford 8.8 rear backing plates

I picked up an 8.8 posi from a 99 explorer and I bought all the parts to re-do it but I’m having trouble locating new backing plates to hold the e-brake shoes, I’ve been all over the web and for some reason I can’t locate these things. Mine are too rotted away to use. Anyone out there know of a...

    Coil spring advice request

Well I suppose I could put it all together with blocks in place of the springs and then tow it down to the feed mill and weigh it, seems like there should be a better way, at any rate, how would knowing the car’s total weight tell me what the weight of the front end is ?

    Coil spring advice request

That’s a fine chart, which I will save, but how do I figure out my application ? I know a stock Falcon with a V8 weighs just shy of 2400, and I’m using a 350 Chevy engine.

    Coil spring advice request

I’m putting a Mustang 2 suspension in my 62 Ford Falcon and when I look into ordering parts they give a lot of choices for springs that I’m not educated on enough. They list different weight springs and I have no clue what to order. Like I said, the car is a 62 Falcon, the engine will be a Chevy...

    More progress on my Falcon

I’m sorry, what do you mean, start a build thread ?

    More progress on my Falcon

I took others advice and built torque boxes, since I needed to replace the front floor anyway, I extended the torque boxes 10 inches back to really tie in the subframes with the rockers.

    Ford Falcon wheel wells

Well, I did the cardboard pattern, how’s it look ? I bought a bunch of machines from Eastwood so I’m gonna try to build flares next.

    Ford Falcon wheel wells

Looking for tips on cutting out the rear wheel wells on a 62 Falcon for tire clearance, do I use cardboard and get a pattern off the front fender or do I have to figure out a radius somehow ???

    Mustang-2

Hey Doc, Thanks for that link on the torque boxes, I saved it to pdf. Looks easy enough to do, I wanted to pull my fenders off anyway to check for hidden rust.

Alright, never mind. Can’t be the same guy. Just googled Norm Grabowski an he’s dead. Unless they have WiFi where he’s at.

    Mustang-2

I was just wondering because I read in an old hot rod magazine about him joining one of their power tours and he was going by Elpolako. I’m gonna see if I can find that issue.

    Mustang-2

Hey Doc, I see you visited Elpolacko’s page, is that Norm Grabowski ?

I don’t think I wanna go as far as building a whole frame for a perfectly rust free car, especially with the weight penalty. I will look into subframe connectors though, I’ll build my own and firmly fasten them in, including to the floor and braces running out to the inner rocker sills.

    Mustang-2

Hadn’t thought about it really, I’ve never seen a set that actually looked like they might contribute anything more than marginal stiffness to the body. If I would make a set, they’d have a flange on both sides for the full length and be spot welded every inch and a half or so
