Motorcycle Monday! Got one, had one, love one... let's see it!

Here's my '75 Trail 90. My Dad bought new and it's been following me around for 49 years now. I had it running about 7 years ago. I just stuck it back out of the way. I need to get the rust out of gas tank and it'll be good for another 49. It's got 743 miles now. I don't want to wear it out.

    "Don't Know" Build start

Hey fellow ratters. I've been out of circulation for a while. The old Ghia has been resting up. Just sitting in the garage giving the cats a place off the concrete. I took it to one show last year and managed first place in the Rat Rod category. On the 25 miles home, the right front tire decided...

    Your favorite street racing stories!

Bear in the air. We used to race on a two lane concrete road that went to a couple of chemical plants and then around to a small town on Galveston Bay. The area we raced at was patrolled by the County cops but, it was out of the way and not much traffic. There was small town close by. One...

4 speed Hydramatic 55 Pontiac FREE

It's the standard cast iron four speed automatic with the split torque converter/ flywheel. Was working fine the last time it was used back in 1980. It's going to the scrap if nobody wants it. I'm south of Houston about 40 miles. It's free so if in need, come get it. Bring help. It's heavy.

    'Sleepers' section!

A few years back, I had a '70 AMC Rebel four door. Just plain ole original light blue, little chrome ans a six banger. I lost reverse and couldn't find anyone that wanted to rebuild that tranny. It wasn't but 30 years old at the time. Anyway, I had a good running Olds Rocket and decided to stick...

    "Don't Know" Build start

Hey Gang, I'm still around. Lots going on and not much rattin'. I did manage to take the Ghia to a benefit this last weekend. Small car show, auction, and food. There was around 25 cars in the show. Somehow I managed to beat out a few shiny cars to get 1st place in the 1960-69 Car category. Even...

    "Don't Know" Build start

Just pics I acquired some 1 1/4" bar stock, drilled and tapped 3/4" threads and used '64 Ford tie-rod ends. Took three new taps to thread eight holes. Then used a 1 13/16" combo to reverse direction on the steering. So now, there's Jeep, Toyota, Chevy, Pontiac, unknown make trailer, Ford, and...

    "Don't Know" Build start

Almost....... It's been a long time in the making and it's back on the road, or was. I took it for the first tryout and it seemed to drive good. Wonders around just a bit but, I'm thinking the toe-in might need a little more. First ride, the left hand header feel apart. Got some j-bends and...

    Jeep axle side swap

Well, that's something I didn't think about. [S again. Thanks. (My "back on the road" date just slipped some more.)

    Jeep axle side swap

Thanks smallfoot. I'm just using the axle itself. All the pads and brackets are history. I'm putting the spring underneath the axle. I was making it so I could test drive it before welding everything up. But that idea got canceled when the double spring idea got canned. I'll have maybe four...

    Jeep axle side swap

I've gotten the axle deal fairly well figured out except what caster angle do I need to start with on this Jeep axle. I've been told so many different positives and negatives, 12 degrees from this one guy, 3 negative from another and I'm fairly sure none of them have ever actually set a...

    "Don't Know" Build start

I had to try it. Two springs is way too much. So, I removed the back one, moved the axle forward a little more and Moved the shackle mounts to the center. I've got to move the spacers around and get the shackles located right. But, I got the single spring hooked up and holding the weight. I can...

    "Don't Know" Build start

Making a little headway. I got the spring mount drilled out and mounted. (that was a headache with the hole placement)(and still got it wrong. But, since the u-bolts are just holding the springs in place and don't hold any weight, the holes are fine in the wrong places.) Put it all together to...

    "Don't Know" Build start

It's warmed up and given me a chance to get some done. I got the shackles made and figured out how to get things to work together. I imagine there will be a few "revisions" before it's done but, right now, it looks like it might work. Next, I'm going to tackle the spring mounting and getting the...

    "Don't Know" Build start

I got a little done yesterday. I got the radiator moved back and stood straight up again. Rack and pinion off and on bench. Did a rough mock up with one of the springs. For every problem I think is figured out, there's three more come to make up for progress. After I'm fairly sure the suspension...

    "Don't Know" Build start

Hey Bamamav, the R and P will still be behind axle like it was on the old suspension. I'm having to move the axle forward about six inches to clear the frame and it's out of reach. The Jeep steering was originally in front of the axle but, I'm swapping sides with the spindles, so I don't wind...

    "Don't Know" Build start

Hello yall. I had to make my semi-annual appearance and post a little update on the Ghia. I took the stock VW front suspension out of it and am currently doing a little fab work to get this Commanche axle under it. I'm using two leaf springs, mounted underneath the straight axle. I've got it...
