I don't think so! Although batteries have been around for hundreds of years the auto industry didn't start useing 12 volt systems until after WWII and most American cars were still 6 volt until about the mid 50s. ... [P

12 volt systems were in use by the military for years before the auto industry started using it...same thing with automatic transmissions. I had a WWII tank (1941 M5 Stuart) with twin Cadillac flathead V8s which had 12v and auto trans.

Many of the things we use everyday were developed in wartime, this little internet thing is one of them.

12 volt

From what I was told by an old man here in town, that has way to many dodge brothers stuff. that dodge had 12 volt up to 29 and went to 6 volt in 30 thats what he told me when I was looking throught his stuff, He's the one that is going to restore everything on his property and won't sell anything, he's like 80 years old now, really breaks my heart, because when he is gone his kids will scrap everthing at one time to make a fast $.
I have the pictures of his place listed in a group on myspace

I'd really like to buy that 33/34 MOPAR coupe... seriously.

There was a guy like that around here looked just like that, and after he died they rolled in with porta crusher and a flat bed and hauled it off.My buddy said he had money and guns and stuff stuck all around in the trunks, no telling what else went with the cars.

old cars sitting / not for sale

Krosser me and everybody else that knows about it, wants to buy it. He has a few coupe's out there, but that looked to be the nice one.
Sneakysnake, I bet there all kinds of goodys stashed away in his place, he has about 5 buldings on the property that are packed full of stuff, and his main garage/barn he has all kinds of old signs from dealerships and parts signs. hanging everywhere, not very well lit but you can see them.

That is just a crazy amount of cool stuff that guy has,but even if he were only 20,he would never be able to restore all that, let alone at 80. You would think he would be happy to see some of it restored or build up by guys who appreciate those cars and trucks and not be all greedy and keep everything.Oh,and I like how those cars and trucks all have a roof,I mean hood ,over them.
