Check out this cool piece of machinery! This is my neighbor's 1945 Ford 2N farm tractor that he bought earlier this year. I borrowed it this past weekend for my daughter to use as a photography prop. The 4-Banger was rebuilt about a year ago and runs smooth  Color is rust and I think I have him talked into leaving it that way :D Says he might shoot some flat clear on it though. I grew up with an 8N.....pretty much the same but had a four speed instead of a three and it had running boards where the 2N's just had foot pegs. Sure brought back some memories tooling around on this thing this weekend :)

Thanks for posting Snake Farm. You brought back some memories for me, too.

When I was a punk kid, I worked for an RV dealer. Our yard machine was an 8N. 4-speed, split rear brakes, and high range "road gear". Spent many hours on it, we used it for everything. Damn near killed myself on it once. In the winter, I'd wind 'er up and "drift" it on the snow. That came to a halt when I high-sided it and almost rolled the thing.

I stuck to donuts after that. Turn the wheel, stand on one brake, and dump the clutch. :D

Never broke it, and it never failed. I think they still have it. It was a dead ringer for this one, (without the resto job).

Gotta love a good old tractor. I worked for a farm a few years ago. One of their daily work horses was a 8N. The farm was a dairy, the 8N had a back drag on it we used it to scrape the concrete lot. I felt bad for the tractor a couple times, it was always covered in ****, so I drug out the pressure washer once in a while and cleaned it up. Got to admit, once that was cleaned off it looked pretty good.

A couple other tractors they ran around were pretty popular too. They used a Farmall 400 with a torque amplifier, Oliver 77 Row Crop, and a Farmall H.

They had some new big ones too, but you need to keep some smaller ones around for hay rakes, wagon puller, that sort of thing.

I miss that job.

I like that 2N Snake..they really are good little tractors..this 1948 8N belonged to my dad,it didn't have good patina, just crappy looking paint so I started restoring it several years ago, haven't finished it yet, but I will..eventually:D..I love to hear one tuned well idling at 400rpm,sounds like a sewing machine:D I also have a 1953 Farmall Super C that was my wifes grandpas, also a keeper..then my "new" one is a 1968 international 424

He's done the Flathead V8 conversion, seen two of them at the local Steamthreshers Show this summer, and they do sound nice.

I grew up on a farm and around tractors. I'd love to have a small one for my place now.
Here's a restored 1952 8N that I may buy.

If i was looking to buy one, the 51 and 52's with the side distributor and better reverse gearing are the ones i would want..course being able to set your points at the kitchen table ain't bad either..:D that looks like a nice 52 there dmw, the cyclone precleaner is a plus

if i can figure out what i'm doing wrong i have a flathead v8 tractor a old fordson and a couple of jd's i would post for yall to see.

Here is my old 39 ford, I still use it for bush hogging but use my modern 60s massey 135 for mowing. She fires up every spring with no issues, amazing old machinery.
