There's one in the paper here for $600. He said the motor is pretty "worn" but should turn over. It's got the original 216 in it. If I got it it would be for a work truck (in which I would probably end up doing some modifications to it... swapping out motors/ lowering it some... etc.). Not knowing much on motors I was curious if I could get much for the original motor and trans... even if it's "worn". If they have them I might sell the front fenders and some other stuff I may not use.

So what do ya'll think? Deal or no deal? I should also mention my daily driver is about to crap out on me and I may need something cheap to get me around for a little while.

Where do you live? The 1 1/2-2 ton trucks are pretty cheap around here. I saw a nice straight one sell saturday for under $200 and it had a hoist. Not much demand for those engines. They are known as babbit pounders and had poured babbit rod bearings and a splash oiling system.
The 5 window would be a much better starting place but I think $1400 is alot for that truck. I guess it depends on where you live but around here I would expect to buy that truck for $500 or less. If it ran good and the brakes were up so you could drive it maybe a bit more.

The more I look at it I'm loving that 5 window... but the price is a little high.

Willowbilly, did you look at all the pics? It at least has all the glass in tact. I see a lot of potential. I wonder if he would trade for my Hyundai? hehehehe.

Around here that'd be $4500-$5500. Just saying it's from the Southern U.S. adds a lotta $$$ to the value of 'em up here. Hey, why not buy it for $1400, then advertise it up here for $4500 ? Take the profit and buy something really decent down your way ?

Seriously? They have been crushing them around here because the $300 for scrap is more than people will pay. I know where there is a 49 GMC 3 window short bed I can get for cheap. It's all there and straight. Was running fine when parked 20 years ago.
