I am thinking about using a 1965 1/2 ton truck frame with a 1950 dodge truck cab and I would like some advice on channeling the frame to make the body lower I know it is a very popular way to lower the body so that is what I want to do. Also is there a good spot to start cutting and is there a good way to weld it back together so it is strong and lasts? Thanks

A 65 what? Channeling works but remember you are giving up room inside. Personally I think if you channel much you need to start taking some off the top too, to keep it looking right. I'm sure you can find good threads on chonneling, with details. I have a friend that layed his floorboards in the bottom of the frame on a 37 Ford pu.

I thought the frame was a 1965 but it is actually a 1962 Ford 1/2 ton truck frame and I want to Z the frame. Sorry I forgot what it was called. I want to lower the center of the frame so the body sits lower on the frame and I am trying not to cut the cab up.

Straight axle then - easier to lower than the IFS. Is it 8-lug or 5-lug?

Shouldn't be a problem to Z it. Do some measuring and see if it'll fit under the cab OK. You can take a few leafs out of the spring packs too. A 62 F250 has a few to spare.

Are you asking how and where you should cut the frame?

Any pics?
