I found out I have a 35 Ford pickup. My question is about the brakes. What hydraulic brakes will work on the spindles I have. I believe 40 to 48 will work. Right or wrong and you want hurt my feelings. Any information on this subject is appreciated.

'35's are a little fuzzy for me. I know you can get adapter spacers to put the '40-48 brakes on Model A's ,but I am not sure from '32 to '38 what you do. I do know you can use the '39-48 spindles on your axle and then use the appropriate brakes, but it is just those years I mentioned that I am not clear on.

I'm sure someone else on here will have an answer though. However, if worst comes to worst just find some of the '39 up spindles and you will be home free.

Speedway sells the adaptor kit for your spindles for about $20. The problem with this conversion is the spacing on the spindles for the backing plate. The holes in your spindles are 3'' on center and the hydr. backing plates are 3 1/4'' , so you have to offset the holes 1/8''. This leads to another problem, the backing plate has 1/2'' holes and there isn't enough room on the flange. You end up with the 1/2'' hole right on the edge of the flange. The best way to swap hydr. brakes on your truck is to swap to '37 thru '48 spindles with '40 thru '48 brakes. The other option is to use '48 thru '56 F-1 or F-100 front brakes. For the rear, swap in a '37 thru '40 rear end with '40 thru '48 brakes.

Thanks Youngster

I found some 40 Ford brake drums for free. It's good to have friends. Working on the rest of the parts. They'll come around before I need them. A lot of body and frame work before the brakes. Thanks again.
