I found this truck and just see a lot of potential . It is a 35 International C? It is a 1/2 ton I do know that, maybe a C135? Anyway, I'm going to look at it this week, and if it looks ok it will be mine. It is all there including the Flat 6 and all sheet metal. I am stoked to finally be able to have my dream truck. Here are some photos. Not real good photos but enough to give you a peek. It will need a lot of work , but well worth it in the end. Gonna try to keep the frame the way it is and install a flathead V8 Ford ,and try to couple it with the 3 speed tranny in it already.

Those are great Lookin trucks... You probably allready know but in caseyou don't... There is a whole lot of wood holding those cabs together.. I even think the doors are wood... Wouldn't stop me though good luck!

Yes, I sdid some research and found that out. Just gona go back and replace it with square tubing /

Yes, the doors are wood. That body is getting real popular to rod and that vintage of binder grill brings a sizable sum nowdays. I saw one at WOW in Dallas about 5 years ago, original patina, chopped top and Hemi. It was awesome, until I found out it was a rich guys trailer queen and never got driven.

Ok, this is my thought. I know that anyone can just drop a SBC in this truck. I'd like to put a diesel in it. I'm wondering if a 6.9 or 7.3 would fit. I had a line on a 49 with a 500 Caddy engine, but I'm not getting a fuzzy feeling about it. I'm leaving on Saturday with a trailer to get this 35. Any thoughts on a diesel>?

I don't know about fitment, those navstar diesels are big, but it would be cool cuz it would still be all binder. I would love to find a 4BT Cummins for a truck like that but they are kinda pricey. Another option would be a 6.2 or 6.5 Chevy. Not the best diesel out there but pretty decent mileage and they will pretty much fit anywhere a sbc fits, same bell housing and all. Just make sure you get the early 6.5 with the mechanical pump, not the later ones with all the electronics and that pos PMD box that's always going out.
Also you might look into a DT466 or it's little brother, a 4 banger. Sometimes you can find them in old school buses for real cheap.
I like that one jeep ratrod with the air cooled Duetz.

Well, you struck a nerve when you replied about a diesle motor. I found a 6.9 with 22k on a rebuild . I;m gonna see if I can make that work or fit in there. This truck is being built so I can haul my pop up camper also when I want. Chopped top, with fenders on,slammed slightly .Any ideas are welcome for this build.

That would be the Navstar I mentioned, sorry, I didn't refer to it as a Ford diesel, IH used them some too I believe.

I used to rebuild my own injection pumps on the 6.9's. Never owned a 7.3, but had very gooId luck with the 6.9 Intl. I'm going to look at 4 engines this weekend. All around the $1000 mark . One has the manual 4 speed attached .

Well, as usual someone wasn't truthful about this truck. I got there and the whole truck was a piece of rust with body parts hanging on it. haha. Dandit, and I sold my 48 ,so now I'm without. That leaves me looking for a new project. Crap.

That a shame. I looked like the hole truck was there.

I always like the grilles. I have one on the front of my Model T

The 6.9 and 7.3 are basically the same engine. The Power stroke as Ford people would call it is actually a T444E which is also a 7.3 but a totally different engine. The 6.9/7.3 had head gasket problems. The 7.3 was prone to pin holes in the cylinder walls. The T444E was totally electronic and had a high pressure oil pump to actuate the injectors. IH used all 3 engines as much if not more than Ford. Ford has their own diesel and it is still called Power Stroke and has nothing to do with Navistar. Navistar and their dealers are very happy to be done with the Ford deal.
