Well it's about time. I finally had a weekend off and we hooked everything up on the 3X2 and fired it up. I'm very pleased with the way it runs right out of the gate without even being fine tuned yet. I've still got a few details to clean up in the engine bay before I take it for a shakedown spin.

While I was installing the 3X2, I wanted to give the engine compartment a neater look and keep clutter away from the new intake and carbs, so I low mounted a smaller alternator, moved the coil to the back side of the lft. head, and rerouted a few wires and lines. The only issue is that all conventional wisdom says that you can't use solid core spark plug wires with an electronic distributor. Not willing to give up my cloth plug wires just yet, I did it anyway. I'll probably change them but I don't want to.

Enough babbling. On with the pics. There's more here than needs to be but, well I haven'y posted anything for a while and got a little happy with the camera.

I set the hood back on to see how it looks

It looks great! Any details about jetting, etc. when setting up the carbs would be appreciated. Oh, the rest of the car has a great look too.

Very Nice !!!

MMmmm. 5 pictures from you and your "camera happy" ?
Something is seriously wrong... :p (20 is "normal" :D)

Cool setup, love the 3 duece look on your car.
Very nice changes all around.
I am looking forward to a first drive review....
Good job, Gastrick.

looks great gastrick, that really sets off the engine bay-way better looking then the single four barrel. I'm suprised it took you so long to get it running :D.

Oh man, you're making me want to change out mine too. :p That looks really so much better on there Bill. One thing I've learned about you , you don't go half way on anything. :D Nice job.

When all the fad cars have gone the way of the lace tablecloth paintjobs, cars like this will remain the coolest.

Boy, isn't that the truth. If you think about all the different "looks" that have come and gone over the years, what is the one style that never has gone out of style? Yep, the basic 50's style rod. Even at the heyday of those glittery showcars, you could park a car like Gastricks on the floor and have a crowd around it.

I was there during the '70's, when some of the most hideous creations known to the car world were built, and I am so glad to see them gone. Back then good taste took a back seat to being outrageous.

Daaaaang!

What a change, I had a four barrel and changed to a 2x2 with the holley 94's and a vintage speed adapter. I love it and will now open my hood at a show.
