I have a 20r toyota in my 32 chevy , a quad 4 olds or a cosworth vega engine would look good in a rod.

Wow!!, I didnt exspect this thread to be very well recieved ,but i should have known better on the RRR.
Looks like i'm not the only one tryting to build a cheep rat driver!
I drove an olds quade 4 before ,seems like it ran real good but i dont remember much about them .
I'm thinkin about an iron duke motor with a five speed in it if i get to do it,and i like to use s-10 rear ends anyways so it will all tie in together well and easy .
I want it to be easy to work on and to find parts for ,but s-10s are quickly becoming scarce in this area and the price is rappedly climming on them too i have noticed, sence the gas prices are driving the price of 4 cyl vehicles up.
My wife works for the local insurance co. and says that in the last few weeks people have been buying 4 cyl vehickles like crazy.
Any body got a good t-bucket body to trade on ????

On another forum I am on, Clubhotrod, J.Robinson is building a cool little T track car using a fiberglass '23 turtledeck body and the running gear from a Ford Ranger, 4 cylinder and all. Stuff fits in there like it was made for it. If anyone wants to view the thread it is here:

www.clubhotrod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30400

You might have to join to view the pictures, not sure, but it is a quick deal to do. Jim is really doing it all on this car, building everything from the radius rods on down, so there is a lot of info here.

Tom,
The wiring will be easy, I have a kit for it that ive had for a few years. the Fuel pump is a stock Toyota and the distributor is stock electronic and takes a regular non resister coil. the Clutch pedals I made from old bicycle forks. I will get pics of them as soon as I take the cab off to finish some welding on the frame.

Some 4 Cyl. Cars....

Here are a few examples, most photos I have taken over the years.
Some of the engines are probably older than you have in mind,
but you get the idea and 4 bangers are well received.

And this thread should be some where else, not in the B.S. lounge....... :p '22

I think they were recasting the 270 a few years ago and still they were vey pricey. The Quad 4 makes a cool looking poor mans offy when you get all the garbage off it.
