Might be a dumb question but I am going to be building a semi street rod/rat rod. Question is I will be using a 40 ford front axel and I don't know what perches I need?
The axel I am using was a new old stock axel with nothing on it so I don't know what to get.
I'm a fabricator and don't know what to get as of parts

Lets start with a question , what is your definition of a semi street rod / rat rod .When you say perches do you mean the part that bolts to the axle and attaches to the spring . Speedway sells lots of old front end parts , trouble is lots of those parts are not really old . They are made in China . Buyer beware , a front suspension failure could kill you .

If the pics load this is what I am going for. So let me rephrase my question what perches would work to do this. Like I said I am not a parts guy I have no idea what fits what. . But I can buy what I need if I know what to look for lol.

The stock 40 Ford axle that you have ran a spring in front system. That is , the spring was mounted in front of the axle via spring perches that were part of the radius rods.
For the suicide front ends that you show you will have to go to a spring over the axle set up.

He is a member here on RRR and he can steer you in the right direction as far as spring perches as well as the length of spring that you will need. Also a great source for other front suspension parts as well.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so far I'm getting a lot of information from you guys. All of this is going to help me with this project. Hoping Monday I can buy some of the metal I need for the frame. And hoping I can get a few more parts rolling in to get the frame done. I'll keep you guys informed on how it goes. It'll be a slow process but hoping to keep it moving. I'll be using a 454 with turbo 400 trans. 40 ford axel and 50 f1 cab and box.
