Well Guys I should have my new Rat in my yard this Thursday. I will post pictures as soon as I take them.

Anyhow I will need some help on a couple of things.
I need to find someone who either makes or can order seat covers or a recover kit or something to go over the ugly green interior that this car has.
I will aslo need carpet & something to cover the door panels with.

Air ride any suggestions, its something I have always wanted to have on a car?

Flat/Satin paint, how well does this hold up? How easy is it to wash Which is better Flat or Satin?
Do either of these prevent rust?

Just looking for some answers and maybe some ideas. Thanks guys
The Rock

Good luck with the build. I believe that seat covers and carpets are available for your car from several suppliers. It all depends on what your goal is as far as fit and finich/ cost goes. I found a 56 Buick 2 dr carpet on ebay through a quick google search. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1956...NT-CARPET_W0QQitemZ310044440690QQcmdZViewItem

The durability of flat/satin paint depends on the material used and exposure to elements the car sees. For instance using primer as a finish over bare metal isn't durable. It's pourous and will allow moisture to seep through to the metal, eventually causing rust. Epoxy primer will lessen this to a great degree. Regular paint with a flattening agent added will be as durable as any painted surface. There is also the "Hot Rod Flats" line of paint that has a satin finish and comes in a variety of colors. I would try to stay away from a pure flat paint. Hard to wash and it will eventually become splotchy.

Here's a little inspiration for ya.

jc whitney believe it or not has lots of seat covers , some nice pleated vinyl ones that look pretty good and not very expensive .... or contact a guy over on the h.a.m.b. named kirk! he just bought the entire contents of an old upholstery shop and may have what you are looking for , good luck with your project

Well at 2 pm today she finally arrived. Sorry no pictures yet, I literally left work just to help unload the cad and had to return. Anyhow here are a couple of questions.
The carb really needs to be rebuilt, where do I find a rebuild kit for a 2bbl Stromberg carb. The car starts up fine but will not stay running without me holding down the gas.
The breaks are bad or at least I have no fluid due to a bad wheel cylindar. We put fluid in pimped up a little pressure just to move the car and hoped for the best, well that didnt work too well I put the car in reverse and backed straight over the neighbors fence. Well we had a good laugh pushed the car forward and pulled the fence back into place. I will post pictures tomorrow.
:D

Where would be a good place to find a fuel pump. I have an electronic fuel pump on it now and the car just will not run right with it. I think the 2 barrel carb is just too small and can not handle that much gas being forced into it. Even on the lowest setting the car just will not keep running. If I hold the peddle half way down the car runs just fine but it will not smooth out and idle on its own. so I am thinking I may need to go to the good old mechanical fuel pump. Any ideas????

I'm pushing 7# to my Packard with a 2 barrel. Just right. The manual pump I disconnected was rated at 5 to 9#. What do you have yours set at and do you have a filter before the pump.

Im running the stock 2 barrel stromberg carb. I do have a fuel filter and a fuel pressure regulator, the regulator is set at 5.

Well the Buick has sat for a while. I finally had the time to get the carb fixed, replaced the fuel lines, two new brake cylindars, and the front end is finally put back together. Im actually taking it to the labor day car show in Muskegon. As long as I can get the brakes blead.

Ok so I changed both rear wheel cylinders and the brakes still take their sweet ass time stopping the car. Maybe its me but it doesnt feel right. I have never had a car with an all drum brake system so how should it stop/slow? Any suggestions for a front disc conversion???

Well I have the Buick running and driving well. So now Im bored, but I get that way fast. Im out there searching for a new body just to hold onto, plan out and just start picking up parts for.

Well i know I am going to get a ford 20's to 30's so if anyone has any parts just laying around let me know.
