Hi Everyone

I have been building a rat rod build for a while now and I was wondering what you guys think of a daily driver without fenders (mine has none). I am actually contemplating about getting something with fenders on it. I live in the great state of New York...we get wicked winters and tons of rain too. I was thinking maybe a full fender truck on a new full size truck chassis. Something practical and if I need an extra vehicle to get to work I can use the rat truck. Maybe a Tow Mator type truck (with a hood tho).
The whole fenderless thing in these parts just doesnt seem to be a good mix with all are weather that we have here.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I live in NE PA, and even though our winters aren't normally as bad as upstate NY (we don't have a great lake near enough to play havoc with us like you do), I see no reason to not build something that can be used as a daily driver. That's what my plans are for my 54 Studebaker pick up. I'm putting the body on an S-10 2 wheel drive chassis and I plan on using it whenever I want (short of deep snow....I have a 4 wheel drive for that). I say find something that you like, put it on a newer chassis, and go for it.

Hey Mike. This may be a personal preference but I think unless you have a straight axle you should run fenders otherwise it doesn't look good. By the way I finally got the 54 GMC that I bought from you running. Still have lots to do to it before it is road worthy. We built zoomie headers on it that go up through the hood. If you want to see a video of it running check out

Heres a thought......

How about one that you can hang a front sheet metal on in the winter, and run fenderless in the summer???? [S Might be on to something here???

I'm going to run motorcycle fenders that are easy to remove/install on the front. Rear fenders will also be removable but I don't have a set yet, maybe just some tractor supply trailer fenders.
