I inherited(took) my uncles old lawn tractor. Its a '63 Simplicity, heck it may be an Alis Chalmers. When my uncle was alive he took better care of this tractor than he did his cars. And he had some nice cars! '63 Impala 409, '65 BelAir, '77 Stingray. Anyways, he died 10 years ago this past summer. The poor tractor has been sitting in the weeds for atleast 5 years with the spark plug out and the points missing.(Thats what happens when people "know" what they are doing) I went out and saved it from nature, then i scrounged up all of my uncles attachments that go along with it. This gal has it all, mower deck, snow thrower, tiller, chizel plow, push plow, drags, grader, and even a set of chevron pattern tires for the rear.

So i did a quick resto on it, got it all set to go. Used it to till my garden, then mowed with it all summer. Now its time to use the snowblower and i got a bad carb. The carb i have isnt worth rebuilding. I went to the local Simplicity dealer and they just looked at me like i was crazy. Kinda like trying to buy parts at the Ford dealer. "You got a VIN?"

I know one of you guys has an old junk lawn tractor laying around! I could really use a carb if anyone has one. The tractor is a 1963 Simplicity with a Briggs and Straton motor.

(sorry no pics, the dang computer isnt up to it right now)

carb

I had a 64 and also had carb troubles I adapted a Honda ATV carb on mine
Its off of a 250X four wheeler
I cut the old carb close to where it bolts on to the engine and built a new intake for the Honda carb
It works good and is more responsive to the throttle because the new carb has an accelerator pump
Wish i had pictures:cool:

Those are tough old tractors.......Cast iron B&S engines are very common on all the brands so finding a carb shouldn't be hard.

In the other thread, I referred 2 tractor forums.....
