I thought this was really cool. I came across this doing a search on Korean War aircraft photos.
After flying over 30 missions in WWII in B-24's and B-17's my dad flew another 25+ missions in Korea in a B-29.

Here is a photo of my dad and crew with plane.

The video is not from the Korean war as you will see but darn amazing at any rate.

That was really cool Cycledog. I have a huge appreciation for WWII Bombers and the crews that flew them. The video was cool too. Guys that build and fly RC aircraft especially like that bomber are amazing in their own right. It takes alot of know how to build something like that from scratch and then fly it as gracefully as that plane did. The X1 rocket plane is a great addition to the performance too.

Thanks for sharing that.

That was an awesome video. I'm going to share it with my dad who is recovering from heart surgery right now, I think he'll be fascinated with it.

That's also a really great photo of your dad and crew cycledog. Which fellow is your dad?

Gastrick,
I hope your dads recovery will be swift. Sorry if I missed a post about it earlier.

My dad is the third from the right bottom row or fourth from the left:D, crew chief, flight engineer, gunner.

Very cool vid, thanks.
I also have a soft spot for WWII planes. I rode up in the mountains outside Wasilla, Alaska to a wrecked B29, twice. It was an all day trek on a 4 wheeler.
I also think of that one in Greenland, I believe, they went in and rebuilt, then it burned up as they were taxying.

That is great. There was a lot of planing to build that and make it work. I have a friend that flies those planes But nothing like that. I sent it to him, he will enjoy it.

Did you check out the starter for that plane. It looks like the same starters they use to start the racing GoKart.

Thanks for posting that.

Wow my hat is off to your dad and all the other guys who served so bravely for our country . As a kid I grew up near the Brooklyn Navy Yard , Mitchell Field, and the Saint Albans Naval Hospital, any body in a uniform was my hero. Wonder what all those men who fought and died for our freedom would think of this country now .

The plane that caught fire...

Willowbilly3...I SAW that program.!! SEE where they found it...?? BURIED in ice and snow..!! It was SO awesome the way the found that plane....AND rebuilt it right there. The guy who was the lead guy on re-building it suffered a severe back injury while they were working on it and I guess he contacted some kind of a virus and DIED before they finished..it was so sad.:( BUT then it showed it running and like you said..IT BURNED down while they were taking down the runway..OMG that was horrible..!! I once stood next to one that ran missions over Vietnam...I couldnt believe how BIG they are..!! Wheels on the wings.?!?!?!?!?

Apparently they have no real steering. The front wheel just swivels and you use the throttles and tail rudder to steer.
It was sad they just left that burned plane on the lake to sink when spring thaw came. It had 4 rebuilt engines that didn't burn.
