Ok gang... New question...
I'v got a 350 w flat tops, gm cast 2.02 "turbo" heads, cross ram w 2 4's, in the rat rod...
How much low end drivability do i gain back by advancing the cam 3degrees?? ( am trying to ofset the cross ram)
thnx d/b

Everytime I buy a new timing chain setup I am tempted to install the cam either advanced or retarded, just to see what happens. But I end up always putting it straight up because I am not adventurous or willing to pull it back apart if I don't like what happens. But I have a 355 Chevy ex drag engine that I may play around with the timing on when I freshen it up and put it into some racer, just to see what I get.

might want to degree the cam as well. I heve seen off the shelf cams at "0" be as much as 4 degrees either way.

Advancing or retarding the cam works.....depending

advance for low end, retard for top end.... degreeing the cam is the smart thing as some older cams are 4 degrees or better off center..newer machined cams not so much..... big cube motors seem to react better to cam advance and retard... HO racing in CA used to have 2,4,and 6 degree offset keys for that reason....(pontiac's) now there is adjustable cam gears... personally, I would degree the cam and get it straight up.... unless you're running some really high (low numerical)gears like a 2.73 or lower, advancing the cam won't gain you much.... better to have the rear gears match the cam and keep it in the power range of the cam.... JMHO.....:D

Sgt Pontiac just put 3 rounds in the same hole!
Nah I'd say it was a full clip....he qualifies.
