I got my new carb in, I thought it would be a straight install. Both edelbrocks, took the old one off, put the new on, went to hook up the linkage....hmmm....not working.....looked at the old carb :mad:the po drilled a hole in the linkage on the carb to make the old truck linkage work! what a doofus! why would you do that to a $300 carb when you could modify some funky old linkage instead! so, any suggestions? i'm going to try and modify the linkage with some scrap stuff i have laying around and some clever welding this weekend. any suggestions from those that have dealt with this before would be appreciated though. thanks!

How about showing a pic of the new and old carb along with the linkage Joe. I'm sure we can come up with some suggestions for ya. Although in general, I don't have a real problem with modifying the carb if done neatly. It's just a linkage flange. It's already got several holes in it.

Interesting. I'd like to see pics too to figure out why he did that. I use to have a 69' Chevy C30 that I swap motors. Never had a problem with linkage in any swap. Even a SBC into a 74' Chev Luv.

ok, i'll probably get some pics later, although i'm sure i'll have something cobbeld together by the time i get them up here. I just had to vent my frustration. thanks guys.

Linkage

Hey Joe, I had the same problem and what I did was to go pick-n-part and pulled one those spring loaded throttle cables off a late model ford. It works great and you can locate the cable anywhere you want to.I got the whole thing for 5.00. Hope this helps. Curt

alright, i caved and made the hole a little bigger to accept the linkage. i did a better job then the po so mine dosn't look as bad. I'll throw some pics up for you guys later of the linakge and the carb. I'll have to replace the linkage later but it works for now.

How does it run you ask? Freakin Awesome! I left a fat tire slick last night at a stoplight. I was little worried that 600cfm would be too small but this thing pulls from 50 all the way to 70 mph like nothing and wants to keep going. I have to back off at that point though (4:11's and crappy drum brakes :D)
