Aluminum source

I know I should use the wanted section but not many people seem to read that.
I need 10x10x1.250 aluminum to make my trasmission adapter. The cheapest I can find is about $125 plus shipping for 12x12. Looking for help, suggestions. I just can't spend that much.

Metal salvage yards are a cheaper source. Could you use two thinner pieces put together?

Aluminum plate, 12" X12" X 1.25" is $91.00 here. Plus tax and shipping. A foot long chunk of 1" aluminum bar stock is $57.00 plus t & s & cutting charge. Material that thick doesn't make it to the shorts rack where is would be about half price.

Most adaptors I've seen are either 3/4" or 1" thick.
I'd look at some 1". might be cheaper & more availible.
