anny one from South Dakota???
I want to build a rat something horrible but dont have a clue were to start and could use a hand. I have been working on a 1964 El Camino, but i am shure noboty in here is realy intrested in that:confused: but the rat rods are something new that have just caught my eye and i cant get enough of them i am pretty shure they are a new love and a lot of work and i think that i am up for the challange

A 64 Camino sounds great. We like lots of different stuff here.
But when it comes to Rats, there are all kinds. What kind are you partial to? 50's? 30's?
trucks maybe?

Welcome to the site.

The El Camino cood be a rat if you wanted it to be. If you don't want to use that then figure out what car/truck you want to build and look for one. The little bit of advice that I could give you is look for a solid body and chassis. That way there is less chance of getting discouraged from the beginning due to gobs of welding and fabrication. A good place to start looking is right here on RRR. There were many rides I would like to have if I had the money. Good luck though on your future project.

likes 2 tinker, Sure folks would be interested in your 64 El Camino project. If you like it, I say go ahead and stick with it. Furthermore, go ahead and post about it. If you get stuck, there are many that will be glad to offer advice. But like barberochris said, you'll probably get discouraged if it's not a project that you are really into. Or maybe you could make the El Camino presentable enough to sell in order to fund a project more to your liking. Either way, there's nothing wrong with 64 El Caminos.

Elky

Welcome to the triple R and yeah, we'd love to see your Elky. Please share!

Welcome aboard. Take it from me, this place is addicting. Its like they suck you in, chain you down and hold you here.

Post up some on the camino. I love the older camino's and chero's.

I posted this on another sight in response to what it's like to be infected with the rat rod bug. Man your in for it now.

I went to the meeting last night. Everyone was very nice. Then it was my turn to share, I stood up....... Hello, I said, my name is Randy and I have a problem. Well by the end of the evening I realized I wasn't alone and I had support. We even did the fall backwards into everyones arms. Some guys cried. Not me though. I also found out there is a name for it...... CARICOSUS RUSTALOTOCUS. It's not directly fatal but it is uncurable. We can learn to live a relatively normal life, the key is early detection, finding an apropiate release mechanizim and regular stimulation.

You are not alone in this.

Oh yeah, welcome to RRR :D

I'm from S.D. Black Hills
That elky would make a fine rat but you really need to put a Ford engine in it.:D

Now that's just not right:eek:

L2T....Elky's are cool, and I really like the 64 /65 styles. I personally had a 68 and 69 myself (69 was a factory SS). Welcome to the board, and if you haven't guessed it yet....these guys love pictures....Post lot's of them!

Willowbilly3, How darest thou defilist thine Chevy with thine Ford Motor.

And I, much like Roddguy, suffer from " Caricosis Rustolium" (or whatever they call it)

I had it before it before they even knew what it was.

When I get rich I am going to buy a restored 57 corvette and put a 406 Ford engine in it.:D:D
Seriously a good 283 would do a 64 elky proud. 3030 Duntov cam with some eary fuelie heads and 3 dueces, oh yeah!

You're exactly correct. I have a problem with a SBC in a Ford car.
Its logical, practical, makes good economic sense, runs good.......

........ but it just aint right.

Now that BBF in a 57, that could be pretty cool.:D

hey all of you make a guy feel at home
the pic of the El Camino is one of the first befor i stared tearing it down so far i have all the paint off and all of the interior out now getting ready to cut out the cancer and i will post new picks as soon as i can

so far this is what i have found but i think 4700 is a little to much to pay at this time i hope that it is still there in a couple of months

wish i could have found a car that looked that good from the beginning for cheap. if you find something cheap in texas, it usually looks a lot worse than that.
