Another exhaust question

Since I have yet to complete and drive a car with exposed exhaust I am truley concerned that someone will get burned bad on them. I envision some kid in a parking lot sticking his little jelly hook on a hot header while mom is yapping on the cell phone and loading her most recent aquisition of cool Chinese Mal-Wart regalia into the SUV.
Does anyone else have this concern? These rusty old cars draw people like flies and I would feel bad if a little kid got burned.

I agree that it is a concern. You know how to pick out the person who drives a Cobra? Check the lower left calf.
Mine sweep out pretty big and get pretty hot, the good news is they cool down fast. Within a minute, or two they are cool enough not to burn.

Surprisingly, I have never had one problem. I drove my '27 with lakes headers every day for 7 years......parked it at work, at the grocery store, at shows and cruises, etc. My current T has the same headers and so far no problems either. Both mine are Jet Hot coated, and actually cool down pretty quick because of that coating.

Don't know if you saw this video my Son Dan posted on YouTube, but my other Son Don bent down to look for leaks when we got his T running and touched his forehead onto the hot header. It was just a little burn and is fine now, but Dan lost it when he saw part of Don's head burned into the header.

Shame on a parent that doesn't watch his kid.

When we were kids, my Dad had a conventional cab international tractor. It was pretty with black paint, gold leaf lettering and twin chrome stacks. Climbing out of the cab, one day, my older brother grabbed a stack for support, yeeheeowwwwwwwwwww.

Had a 68' Vette with Hooker sidepipes. Girlfriend always burned her calf getting out.
