So couldn't ratrods also be known as ferrous fossils?

My son and I were driving down the highway at 65-70 mph, when he says, "look Dad".
An old Willys. Sure enough we turned around and found among other things a Willys, and some 50 Fords, and these gems. They look like this thread.

man them do look like fossils sombody had better exscavate then

Ferrous fossils...that's a great name. I also like rust rods.

Bonehead-your pix remind me of a bunch of dinosaur bones lined up and ready to be moved to a museum. Or, better yet revived like Jurassic Park....if we use some DNA from a Hemi Dodge on this old Ford...

Man, are you guys kidding? That stuff is gold compared to what we see around here. Your lucky to find a rust stain in the dirt after the salt and wet of a few winters get to it.

I am afraid there is not any whole cars that are good there, except for pictures, unless you want a patch panel

You just need to be careful how you dig it up. Try marking off grids with string and get a bunch of college kids with those little archeologist whisk brooms. :D

Very good Sam Fear! That's exactly what I'd recommend too seeing since I'm an archaeologist. Mark a square grid off with some string and dig out to the edges keeping your walls nice and straight as you dig down. Leave all the dirt in and under the body until you get down below it. (We call that pedistaling) Then clean out the interior. Then wrap some heavy straps around it and lift that sucker straight up with a descent sized hoist and haul it back to the shop! Sounds like fun to me!

Now I wish I had a car to dig up!

Hey T1, seems Bonehead needs your expertise out in Colorado. Think you might be able to get some kind of grant for that?
