I'm tryinh to think of how I'm going to fit my new engine, and I'm thinking about extending my front end some, but I don't wanna have to do it if ill need to lose my hood or fenders, I'm going to try to just modify them to look right.
So has anyone else extended the car, whether the front end or the cab?

I noticed you have two projects, '46 Lincoln and a '29 Ford sedan. Which one do you want to fit your new engine? What engine do you have?
Looks like you are going to have to do some kind of metal work no matter what path you take. Since you want to keep your hood and fenders, you might consider relocating your motor and transmission mounts rearward. You will also need to recess your firewall and modify the transmission tunnel. Then you will need to shorten your driveshaft. If you do it this way everything will look stock on the outside. Another plus doing it this way is that you don't have to worry about keeping your frame staight if you try extending it. A bigger plus is not having to do any bodywork. Even if the bodywork comes out perfect will it look good stretched out. It might not look proportional. But then again it only needs to look good to you.

The model a is my grandfathers project to restore, the lincoln is my project. The motors dimensions are 73 in long and 30 in wide, its a modified v16. I think ill only need to extend the front end about a foot or so, the engine setup will hopefully put down 600 hp and 600 tq n/a, and hopefully about 1000 hp on 8 psi of boost in the long run. It'll be 9 liters total using 2 infiniti smallblocks.

Rather then extending the front end, why not move the motor back to make it fit. You'll lose a little interior room, but if you think about it you can extend the dash a little (think of any number of newer cars or trucks with the motor tucked way back in the engine compartment), move the seats a little and you should be good without changing the proprtions of a good looking car that came through with a V-12 to start with.....just my .02 cents

Still working out all the plans before I buy the moter, I don't wanna spend the money on the motors and not use them. My phone won't let me upload pics so just try to google vh45 to see the motor.

sounds like alot-and i mean A WHOLE LOT-of work......and the expense is another consideration.......

.........but by all means if you have the time, the ability, a good heap of patience and a small fortune then GO FOR IT---:D

in case there's any doubt-- i'm really not trying to be a bad guy, or a discourager of dreams--just think it thru, get a plan, figure the cost...BEFORE you do something you may regret later.....

and if you do go thru with this idea please post us some pics....

If I go for it ill definately post pics of progress, cost for the engines will be less than 2000 almost regardless of which engine ill end up using and will make 600-1200hp depending on boost and creativity.
