Saw a Buick at a car show last week that has an automatic transmission (4L60E), but has a vintage manual looking floor shifter. See the pictures. Does anyone know how this would be accomplished?
Thanks

Could be.
The attached photos above are all I have.
Could not get close to the car and did not notice the floor shift + auto trans until I was looking at the pictures.
Is there some type of button on the lokar shifter, or can you just push it thru the gears?
Thanks

There are two that look like that. The Lokar has a push button on top (Or you can buy an adapter that enables you to run different non button knobs, you just push the whole thing down. ) and, there is the Gennie Shifter that you pull to the side to release the detents. Gennie is now sort of out of business.

I just bought a new version of these two at Turkey Run this past week. I wanted to try it. Made by American Shifters it can either be set up as the Lokar or Gennie, and takes the same adapters for the knobs. It was only $ 20 cheaper than the Lokar next to it but I wanted to see how it was so that is the one I bought.

What is funny was that when I had a Lokar in my 23 people would walk up to me all the time and say "I'm confused. I see a floor shift but no clutch pedal." :D I guess it never dawned on them that lots of cars today have automatic floor shifters.

These are very cool.
I'm trying to keep the car as vintage looking as possible.
Thought I would have to do column shift because I wanted to keep the bench seat with no console.
The button hidden in the knob is what confused me.
Post how well what you American Hifter works because pulling to the side might be best.
Thanks

What has been everyone's experience with Lokar Automatic converter kit.
On one of the other sites, two people have not been happy with how they operate?
Thanks

Lokar and Gennie shifters.

There is always somebody out there that is going to knock a product but after you find out why they are downing the product it is because of there install intelligence. As many shifters as are sold they are a good product. 9out of 10 hotrods on the road today are running Lokar or Gennie automatic shifters except for the real hotrods with 3-pedals and a 4-speed.

im just running a th350 but i bought a ebay $40 cheapie hurst universal floor shifter for autos and people ask me if i have a 4 speed.... (sorry cant find my pic)

I have B@M street rod shifter on 700r4 in our 39 works great. and you can use any nob with out extra parts.

If you really want to get some head scratchers, put in a gas pedal, brake pedal, clutch pedal, and one more pedal. I bet the comments you would hear would be priceless ! :D Come on, someone do it, we want to hear the stories !

You really couldn't tell unless someone let you in on it But, we had a local circle track driver who switched his clutch and brake pedal positions because his feet were so big he couldn't use them in their normal positions [ddev
Almost impossible to drive his car but, he was a seven time national champion with it that way [cl
