A few shots from the registration hotel this morning. Lots of people set up lawn chairs and coolers and spend the day there watching the cars come and go. I like cars in motion too. First a Rumblin' Rambler backed up by a Chevy pickup. Big Blue "Vert. Guess what this one is. Nice work on this el Cadmino. Last, perfect tow vehicle for my dragster, but he wouldn't give me the keys.

That show is on my bucket list....maybe next year I will go. It's around 850 miles each way. I made the trip last year to buy the rear wheels and tires that are now on my flatbed.

What is the tan car? A DKW?

Pre Back to the 50's Willys gathering, Tribute to Bill.

My friend Bill was an avid Willys lover. He died recently. Every year before the Back to the 50's weekend he invited all the Willys owners over for a picnic. Bill passed away a few months ago but his wife decided to maintain the tradition. This was the 35th gathering. Good food, good friends, lots of stories about Bill. It was fun, but sad too. Two of us non-Willys guys are accepted but we have to park separate. haha.

We haven't been to Back To The 50s in 15 years. We went 3 or 4 years in a row, but it was still growing then, when they hit 8,000 cars, it wasn't near as much fun as it was when there was only 6,000 cars.
We have talked about going back, but this is a pretty busy time for us around here.

now that is a trunk you can hide some bodies in. thankx for sharing.

Thanks for the pictures Bob. I may make it down there Sunday. It's looking like wet weather for the whole weekend though.:(

Friday, 11,000 cars. Walked around for 8 hours. Never took a picture. Today I snapped a few, then got chased home by threatening weather and a carb that was acting up. The rain, much needed, never materialized. The first five are a random selection of five cars parked in a row. It was like this everywhere.

Here's a couple I liked and an odd VW. This was the 49th year and I've been to every one.

Hey Bob, bet you didn’t realize you were parked next to my old ‘56 Pontiac. I sold it to a guy from Forest Lake in 2010.
