Please do yourself a favor and back your computer up TODAY! It's so simple and external hard drives are so cheap and windoze is SO bad. Back it up or you're asking for grief!

Just talked it over with the wife. She said "I never do, it takes too long"...... I don't know enough about it to even think about doing it. Prove her wrong, Rusty, how long does a back-up take ?

Most external hard drives these days come with backup software already installed. I suggest one of two routes.
1) A complete back up. This isll include all your bookmarks etc. This will take some time but I have it back up at night while I'm asleep.
2) Your files. I don't know how you arange your files but most people don't have that much to back up unless you have a lot of music or video. Simply drag those folders over to the external hard drive and that shouldn't take very long ot take up much room.
Also ask yourself, how long does it take you to get a new computer up and going back the way you had it before it crashed. Like I said, I use the auto back up route as that's the easiest and safest way. If you have a lot of pictures or music it sure would be ashamed to lose it all.
I saw 1Terabyte hard drives at Fry's for around $100. That's a lot of space for a pretty cheap price.

Or just get rid of windows? I haven't but the guys I talk to that have went to other OS claim all the virus problems go away.

Yep... the old Tripper & Tripper Jr use Macs... no viruses for us. Only had one crash in nearly 20 years as a Mac user... once years ago I let Tripper Jr play video games on my computer... kaboom! Games NOT allowed on my main computer... ever! Macs RULE!!! And I do back up my computers @ least once a month & RRR is backed up every day!!!
