Bed ID help???

I'm looking for a bed for my rat now and came across this. Guy wanted $150 but will trade for some pinstriping work. I'm gonna take a stab and say this is a late 40's early 50's ford bed. I was wanting something in the 40's to match my cab. My question is did they pretty much all look like this until they started making the bed rails flat instead of angled. The measurements are good (although I'm going to shorten it anyway). The only real damage is a dent on the right bed rail... no rust through anywhere!

Sounds like a good deal to me. Good looking bed for the money even with the slight dent. I found one just like it for my 51. I've been trying to catch up with the owner to see if he'll sell it. I was thinking of offering him $150.00 too.

Personally the raised sides look a little more modern but a cool touch... Thanks for the tidbit of information. Always cool to know little facts like that. I think it will be a great fit for a 46 cab, especially since I'm going to shorten it some. The raised sides might have made it more tedious to chop up.
