If u haven't seen it... they have part 1 of 2 of Bill Hines choppin' a
49 Merc in the new DeLuxe magazine. He is incredible & still working @ his age... maybe I don't feel so old after all!!!

A friend of mine works on the docks in San Pedro. I thought he was mid 60's cuz he's still working. Just found out he's 75!

Turns out, the union raided the pension fund and all these guys got hosed. The Feds have taken over the pension fund. Now he can't retire, not enough money, plus he's supporting his 40 year old tweeker daughter.

I have that issue. Bill Hines is a true legend of customizing. Here he is in action.

But he's most famous for this 50 Ford known as "the Bat".

What a super super talented guy. I heard they threw a birthday party for him and he was chomping at the bit (or cigar maybe) to get back to work. Wonder how much lead he has ingested over those many years!!

I liked the Monster Garage episode where Bill and some other greats did that Chevy. Even Jesse was in awe of the pure raw talent and confidence of that team.

Thanks forr those photos! I've seen some of the cars he did and saw the Monster Garage show Don referred to but have never seen these two! Incredible! I also heard his cars look just as good years later!

I wish I had just a dab of his talent. I have a 50f1 that I want to take 5 inches off the top. If I could just get up the nerve to make that first cut.

I actually like this 53 Chevy better though. Bill Hines did the chop and most of the bobywork on it. Notice the Merc rear quarters.............Perfect.
