I needed a low buck, low stress project so I decided to build a board tracker.
Started with a regular beach cruiser. Obviously all the unpainted stuff is new tubing. The tank is a sheetmetal shell with a plastic lawnmower tank inside.
The motor is a 5 horse honda off an old power washer that I stripped all the plastic crap off of. I got a Comet torque converter (continously variable tranny) and ran #35 chain to a go-kart rear sprocket that is bolted to the spokes and also welded to the hub.
I welded a smaller sprocket on the crank to get much better leverage on the coaster brake.
Sooo...I tried it out tonight for the first time. What a beast! Launches hard and I'm guessing 35mph tops with this gearing. Next step is paint, some white tires and better handlebars.
