I want to do something like this guy did to ditch the old treadle-vac single system.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRKQMw2PqRI

I need to find a booster combo less than 13, more like 12. I'm thinking a 7 inch booster. You can't really see but that guy cut most of the side ribs off the bracket just leaving flat metal. Not good
So anyone have dimensions and source for a booster combo? thanks

That "conversion" is just plain frightening.

I understand your dilemma and I don't have an answer to your question, but I'd hope for a better solution... forgo the booster and fit something manual? At the footboard/firewall?

.

That is the position and configuration of the original treadle-vac. To mount one to the cowl would take serious modification including removal of the defrost side heater which now resides there.

With all that room why can't the booster be moved back an 1"? As much hacking the guy did why not shorten the rod and drill a couple of new mount holes?

My thoughts exactly.

I would think it wouldn't be very hard to make a nice clean set up that is better then that factory stuff.

I would be looking at putting it under the floor. You can buy the entire set up from speedway if ya wanted to.

That's about the goofiest setup I could ever imagine - the guy has tools like a plasma cutter and can't figure how to move the booster back farther?
I'm not familiar with the Caddy setup, but it looks like a sort of bellcrank that attaches to a rod from the brake pedal?
Run a rod from the bellcrank to a new bellcrank mounted higher, then the booster can be mounted lower, level and closer to the firewall.

That looks like the same booster I'm running with a Corvette style master. Plenty of stopping power and a good feeling pedal. I would try to mount it underneath the floor like a early Ford if you can't do a firewall mount. That one on UTube looks like a wreck waiting to happen. By cutting away the side ribs, he weakened the bracket so much it will probably fold over under the booster, not to mention how goofy it looks with the long pushrod and the booster sitting against the front header panel.

I agree on his carving up the bracket. I just showed the clip for an idea what I was planning. It really isn't a bad setup with the belcrank and I see no need to re-invent the wheel to put it someplace else
