OK I am going to try to post a scanned drawing of a bridge crane that I drew up. I was wondering if any one could answer the questions that are on that picture. or point me in a direction where I could get those answers.

Thanks Pablo

I`d take that drawing to a structural steel fabricator and ask them for a detailed quote , they will give you the answers to your questions .

Pablo Have you considered a gantry crane? A lot less money to build. And will meet your 2000 LB. need.

For years I worked off a big "A" frame with big wheels, the best thing was rolling it outside, or inside, or where ever. I over-built it so it would pickup about anything with its 5 ton hoist.

An A-Frame gantry is the way to go. The one on the site I posted was a single upright. But an A-Frame with big wheels is a lot more stable and versatile. I’ve had 2 and was very satisfied with both. Build them wide and high enough and you can unload car and semi trailers. Just hook up, lift and pull the trailer out.
