the filler tube on my c6 transmission has been cut shorter
and that makes the dipstick readings totally inacurrate.
i recently had a hose to the trans cooler become loose.
and lost a lot of fluid.
how do i figure out what the proper amount of fluid to add is?
once i get it filled correctly i can put new markings on my dipstick.

i am thinking maybe pull the pan and empty the tranny of fluid (excepting the torque converter)
and then adding the correct amount. (whatever that is)
thank you.

Best as I can tell 11 3/4 or 13 1/2 quarts, depends on pan. The 4 wheel drive truck pan adds the extra 2 q. capacity. If you have the car pan and a stock converter my best guess would be 7 1/2 to 7 3/4 in the trans.
