Lacquer is a throwback to another time BUT it is simple to use and you can recoat anytime... I may try it for my F100 as I like the period correct look that new two part epoxies just can't match.

What about the suns effect on lacquer? Doesn't it cause the paint to crack? Nice job on the wagon. Love the flames.

Back in the day (88) I shot my 56 Chev with lacquer and just loved it. I never had any cracking but that is not to say it can't happen.

Easy to shoot, but labor intensive if you want a deep paint job. I wet sanded between each coat and if memory serves laid on around 10-12 coats.

Once that was done and the drying period was over I wet sanded and then buffed it out.

Looked great and I was very happy with it.

I would like to know the source as I wouldn't mind spraying some again on my daughters beetle.

This is my wife's 56 Delray it was painted 14 yrs ago with 12 coats of lacquer and no cracking or crows feet at all

If you get cracking (and you shouldn't, car makers used it for years). Just spray over with thinner and it will melt back together. I painted with lacquer for years. Great stuff.

not to "steal your thunder" but the new duplicolor line of products are all lacquer as well...

never used any of it though...

I've never run across a problem of finding it......its still widely available but with the ease of more modern paints why bother
