Ok, so I had a friend of mine tell me he was going to load his 41 Chevy truck up on a trailer and bring it by for some skull action airbrushed on the doors. He was still in the building stages , so he dropped a 305 SMC in the truck so he could drive it around. Well, he sent me a text of a photo of his truck hanging on the side of his trailer and half way through a metal building ( his shop). Evidently when he gave it a little gas to drive up onto the trailer a spring broke and the throttle hung wide open, sending him through the trailer and his shop. This just goes to show you that it helps to double check every little thing before firing up. Especially making sure you are out in the wide open. He said it was like a Toyota car when he hit the throttle. The spering broke and the pedal hung up. He was so surprised that by the time he hit the brakes he was already rear end up and wheels a spinnin. I was sick when I saw the photo. The truck was still on the trailer and through his shop door at the same time. I told him that maybe he should just leave the 305 in it, seems pretty peppy to me. New grill , radiator, motor mount on right side, and tranny mounts wongo. It only set him back about 5 months .:eek:Yikes

ouch

OUCH:eek:

my dad did the race car into the back of the tow truck thing. l have no pics but wish l did.

after a D main of 30 laps, C main of 30 laps, B main of 30 laps and a 40 lap feature on a 3/8's mile oval, for some reason the brakes failed when he treid to put it on the trailer that night:rolleyes:

Later:cool:

That Sucks! Like skull I had a similar thing happen with a race car. Good thing the bed of the truck was there to catch it

Get in the habit of foot on the brake (and clutch) when you hit the key.

Well, his foot was on the brake until he put it in gear and hit the gas. That's when all hell broke loose. hahah Thing is , he had just moved around his yard to position it to load on the trailer. He shut it off to get stuff ready, then got back in to load it. It wasn't when he put it in gear. It was when he went to give it some gas half way up the ramps. By the time knew what was happening it was too late.

two feet

Best to use both feet anytime a vehicle is to be maneuvered in close quarters. One on the gas, one on the brake. Of course, if it had had a clutch, he would have been able to push the clutch back in real fast.

Uh , Ok, I'll be sure and tell him that.[S

Also be quick enough to shut off the engine.

The trouble is the only time it'll happen is when you are in a situation when you are not ready, not prepared.

It'll never happen in a huge empty parking lot, or on an empty freeway, but it will happen on your trailer, in your garage etc.

That is the way the fickle finger of fate plays with us. :(
