cherokee axles

any one used a cherokee 4x2 straight axle in there ratrod. what years do they come in.

1984 thru 1996 for the Cherokee, I've seen a write up about a guy using one for his salt lake car,
there's 3 issues about using these.
1. they are heavy!!
2. they are coil spring mounted- so you'll have ta make your own pads. [
3. they are heavy! ( I thought about making one for my gasser project)

Are you trying to keep it 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern? If you can use a 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern (Ford), look at a 2WD Suzuki Samurai axle. They are much lighter and often times when a guy wants to convert his 2WD Sami to 4WD, they just chuck them.
