Chevy I Beam Info Needed

OK , I have my chassis mocked up and looking ahead ,I need to update my 52 Chevy Truck I Beam to use later model 5 bolt Chevy pattern hubs (preferably disc units ) .

I know about the kits for disc brakes but after the $$$$ spent so far and now getting laid off, they are cost prohibitive. The budget is super tight now since I'm laid off but I have loads of time to build !

Can later model spindels be adapted here in the garage ????? I can do minor machining and fabbing is no problem .

Any ideas ???????????

I would save up for the disc kit and spend your time working on other things. Stopping is not something to be cheap about.

Drum brakes are not as bad as people would have you think - their biggest downside is fade after repeated hard stops.
I'm not sure if your 52 is the same but early 50's Chevy passenger car hubs swap right onto 55 - 59 Chevy pickup axles to give you 5 bolt wheels.

Yep, the old hot rod trick was to put 49-54 Chevy drums and hubs on the pickup spindles. That gave you a 5 lug Chevy bolt pattern.
