The last few times I took the rod out I got approached by some old women who wanted to talk about it. Two of them even ask me if it was a rat rod and then said "you aren't going to paint it are you?" I was kinda hoping the chicks would dig it but maybe a generation or two younger than 65 year old ones. But then, all the younger women are so busy texting that they don't see anything around them. so for now, I'll take any attention I get and be nice. Heavy sigh

You and the ride got noticed......[cl....

I get the same thing in the model a. Older women give it more attention than young men. Maybe they are just seeing it as an antique. With the engine mostly enclosed now and the vertical pipes there is a noticeable downturn in attention. Don't understand why.

WB3 I got the same thing when I ran around in my 49. I would get a story about how they learned to drive in one. Belive it or not more people 65 got what I was doing and liked it for how it turned out. Most young ones liked the image but could not grasp what I had done.

Only women have asked "You're not going to paint it are you"? Men always ask what color I'm going to paint it.
One really nice lady from the court house (not so old) who did all my paperwork on the title, saw it out the window one day when I was leaving and the next time I came in she was pretty excited and asked the same question. It was as much a victory for her as it was for me when the state finally cleared it for a new VIN.
When I tell them I would like to paint it someday they always say No, leave it like it is.
I would have never thought that only middle aged to senior women would be the ones who liked the rat rod look.
The hardest thing for people to grasp is when they ask what it is and I tell them I built it. "Yeah but what kind of car is it?" I can really only reply that it's titled as a 29 ford pickup.

I seem to get a lot more women looking at my Maverick. All ages, too. The older ones almost always say, I had one of those back in high school! The older guys look over the Maverick because it isn't a Mustang or Camaro, the young guys want to know what it is.

It is a lot of fun owning and driving old stuff people come over to it mostly I think they wish they had old stuff to run around in or dared to.

Might be the age of women that are into the 'shabby chic' style of home decorating - old furniture with the old style paint on it, etc. Kind of the same ideas really. Rejuvenating old stuff, weathered look, patina, distressed, etc. Sounds real familiar.

Girlie version of a rat?
