Has anyone here used one. What are the decent brands.I was kicken the idea around about getting one.Its just going to be for home use.I like the idea of not having all the sparks flying around the shop as I have alot of metal to cut for the Pontiac frame work.

Here is a pic.Its a saw that will cut steel with coolant to cool and lubricate the blade.Does not throw sparks and cuts steel like butter.

Thanks, 35. No sparks would defiantly be a good thing. I try to do most of my cutting outside, downside is where I live it gets very dry in the summer, I live in the woods, as it were, and fire is not a good thing.

Who sells these? I would be intrested in checking one out.

used one daily when I worked at a header shop. LOVED it. great for cutting tubing. but yes, a good one is spendy.

Why not just buy a horizontal bandsaw? No sparks, accurate cuts, and ours has an oil reservour to drip coolant over the piece if you want. (we've never used it)
If we could only keep one piece of equipment in the shop it would be our bandsaw for sure, the quality and ease of our work has improved 300 fold since buying it. Ours is horizontal and vertical, so we can cut odd shapes out with it too.

Just a thought.

I had thought of band saw too. What brand you got Don?I know Dake has some nice ones,But they are kind of big.Don, That saw wont do miter.Or will it do them.

Ours is a Jet 7 x 12 inch model, and ran about $ 1000. It not only cuts 90 degrees, but angle cuts too, and converts to an upright vertical in about a minute or so. We honestly have no idea how we cut metal before getting it, and it literally gets used every time we are at the shop for some job.

Here are the specs on it. I know there are more expensive, bigger units, but this one has been flawless for two or three years now.

Cold saw has been on my wish list for a while now. The prices are coming down where I am looking alot more seriously now. Mainly to replace my chop saw, with all the smoke and dust.

we also had a roll-in band saw. that thing was pure heaven. self feeding, and he had the table marked with angles and he also had pucks you could bolt to the table to hold mandrel U bends so you could get an accurate cut at any angle
