For the suspension gurus'. Does anyone have an idea if a corvair front suspension would be stout enough in a v-8 front engine application? It seems very similiar to a Mustang II setup. I know the springs would be to weak as there is no weight in a Corvair front. Thanks

As Unkl Ian said, these were the hot setup at one time, but they fell out of favor after a while. They were all that were available at the time, and were fairly easy to adapt, but better units like the MMII came along and they weren't used much after that.

Can you use one? Sure, but why go to the trouble of installing something that is second rate to start with? If you are going to all that work you want it to be the last setup you ever install.

They were relatively bulky and heavy, plus good brakes were hard to adapt. Parts might be an issue too.

It's actually going back under a Corvair. We converted my son's Corvair convt to front engine rear drive. Have it mocked up on a monte frame right now. This set-up is a little wider and not thrilled about the perimater frame on a convt, even though these were unibody. I was going to build a 2x4 frame for it and re-use the corvair susp. It only has about 25,000 original miles on it. I have rear rails from JEGS that was for a long gone project. My other option would be S10 but they are pretty bulky. By the way you can put S10 spindles on these, so I'm told.
