I'm adapting modern steering arms and spindles to my 37 Buick Roadmaster.
Has anyone every coupled an extender shaft on a steering box?
Coupling a 8" extension shaft on my gearbox would allow me to mount the box up and out of the way of exhaust system. It would also allow me to keep the geometry of the modern center link stock.
I'm picturing a flanged bearing on each end or the extender shaft and everything rigidly mounted to a custom bracket.
1) Has anyone ever seen or done this?
Thanks

It used to be done quite often when you put a 605 steering box in a 55, 56,57 chev. They used to sell an extender kit or sometimes they would just cut the long extention off of the chev box and add it to the 605 (google605 box) Terry

That's the info I was looking for. Seemed possible since I have a Gear box,
just little room with the narrow 37 frame.
1) Does anyone know of an extender kit still available?, or
2) Does anyone have details as to the components that were used in this type of conversion?
Thanks

Found this website that shows how to modify a 605 gearbox for use with a tri-five
1) Does anyone know if this conversion could be done to a 12.7:1 steering box from a 95 Roadmaster?
The Roadmaster steer box is much longer overall than the 605.
Thanks
