My brother (speed racer) was lucky enough to go to the Columbus Good Guys event that started today and runs through the weekend. He's there with my cousin from Indiana (1939ratzz). He has started to e-mail me lots of photos already from around the host hotel. I thought I post this set individually because of what happened. A guy in a 32 Ford roadster was doing a burnout and lost control of the car, subsequently crashing into a tree. My brother said the driver was partially launched onto the hood upon impact and was injured. He was carted away in an ambulance. This all happened in front of a large crowd of onlookers but luckily, no pedestrians were injured.

Extensive regular show coverage to follow in the photos section.

I hate to see that kind of stuff happen, mainly cause I like to show off sometimes myself. Also because I know that guy put a lot of time or money into the car.

Don't think there will be too many more burnouts. The police were not to happy after the crash. I'm sure they will be there in full force tomorrow night. If you look, the drivers impact with the steering wheel broke the column loose. That alone will leave a mark........or two.

Ummmmmmmmmm!!! Not good on a lot of levels. :( Hope he is ok, and yes, we all have done some stupid things, both in our hot rods and out of them. This kind of publicity is something none of us want or need. That was a very hard hit.

I wonder statistically if there are more hot rods in accidents now or if we are just seeing more reported? It seems to me there has been an increase, maybe because there are more of us out there now.

Gastrick and all you others who attend Turkey Run probably have seen what I have, the police presence in recent years has been much more evident. Last year wasn't terrible, but the year before they were stopping cars left and right.

Every time I see one of these wrecks I send the pictures to my Son Don. I worry about him in his T because he can have a heavy foot sometimes. He put his Mach I off the side of the road on takeoff one time, and also slightly damaged his Vette when the same thing happened. In a small hot rod we don't have a chance.

You hate to see people get hurt. I did some burnouts as a youngster but I just can't see abusing something I worked so hard for, for no real purpose.
I'm just glad he didn't take out a spectator or some parked cars.

thats exactly my thoughts! I don't mind the burnouts - in fact i'm a big fan...I used to go through tires about every 3 months in my other car. but if your gonna get cocky and do it in a crowd, you better know how to handle it. no excuse for putting others in danger like he did.

I know how he feels:eek:.....hope he's ok

You can see where he bent the windshield frame down as well. That car took a heck of a lick thats for sure.

What i dont understand is why didnt he stop right when things started going bad. Also, why would you do a rolling burnout with bystanders right there next to ya. Shouldve learned from the dragster that hit the ppl while doing a rolling burnout.

Sorry, and not meaning to offend anyone here, but that guy was an idiot and a bad driver. If you are gonna do a burnout with spectators, stay in one spot if the car starts moving let off the gas and start applying the brakes. You can do one hell of a burnout wihtout moving. Idiot.

"I like the color."

My mother always told me if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

i was at my local car show and a $$$$$$ guy pulled out in his $120,000 barrett-jackson camaro and stood on it at about 45 mph. the front end went this way and the rear that way, off the road and slid sideways towards a concrete poll. the car stopped inches from the passenger side door where his wife was sitting.

i hope he is ok.

The one up side i see to this whole mess is it was a fiber glass car, easy to replace, and no old steel was runed. But that was sure an expen$ive burnout.

Not defending the guy here but there is an answer to this question. My brother said it was one of those unofficial burnout exhibitions that you see at shows sometimes where a crowd gathers and yells at all the cars that roll by to do burnouts. This character wasn't the only one doing burnouts there that evening...........but he was the last one.
