I have been looking for a set of 305 heads on CL for a while.
Nothing fancy or rebuilt, just a set of greasy used heads
People are asking 300.00-500.00 for them:eek:
saw a 396 bare block with bare heads with no valves that is sitting out in weather in someones yard.Looks like it has been there for years.
He wants 1800.00 firm for it.
Are people really getting these prices?????
Prices seem outrageous to me.
I can`t sell anything on CL even at low prices.
Maybe I am doing something wrong.[S
Guess I should toss everything out in weather for a while instead of keeping it in shop;)

CL used to be a good place to go buy and sell things.
It's too bad but, as with most everything else, it has gone to the dogs.
You really have to sift through the ads for the legitimate good deals. Consider all the rest as just filler.

"Asking ain't getting"
That's the way it is around here. The stuff on CL is mostly junk and overpriced to boot. Between e-bay and the TV shows everyone thinks they have a "Rare and hard to find" .......
Plus I love it when they post something as "Vintage" only to find out it is from 1984.
Torchie.

It takes patience to look for something on CL anymore, but there are still deals on there, you just have to wait for them. Tax time is coming up fast, and there will be all kinds of stuff on there for cheap as folks find they owe Uncle Sam more than they thought they would......

Neverdone you are correct ,, I bought a complete 305 with carb and alt. , starter. for $200 , and he said he was told it had been built not long ago ,, I took it apart and it was true ,, but I refreshed it anyway, and another engine for $100 that needed building. A 305 is easy-er to find and get around here compared to the 350..

I got a complete 302 for $100 and the matching c-6 tranny for $75
Like the man said
Asking ain't getting.
Sometimes I will get irritated and offer some clown something like 2% of his asking price and for fun send him and ad for a brand new item like his for one quarter his asking price

I see crazy stuff here, too.

I have my search criteria for CL, and run it daily. Multiple times on weekends. There are things I am looking for, and just things that I buy because the price is right. I recently bought a complete 40 Ford front axle for $100. There is a pair of drums for same on there today for $130.

Most of my 39 project is from CL. I also run "wanted" ads if I am not finding what I need. I even put in the ad what I will pay. Usually something like, "more than scrap prices". That is how I got my donor car for the project. Pulled the engine and trans, and then I put the car back on CL as parts.
