I want to change the vacuum wiper motor on my 37 Buick to an electric motor?
My engine is not running so I cannot check function of the original vacuum motor.
1) Does the vacuum motor reverse direction?
2) Does the electric replacement made by Newport Engineering reverse direction?
Thanks

If you vac housing is fan/half round shape then it reverses. On the other one I have no idea.

Good to hear from someone in Colorado.
It is a half round shape.
The motor arm also has two ends so I think it would only work if it is reversing.
Thanks for your help.

Well I'm blind and didn't notice your location. I'v been hound dogging cl on your side of the mountian, Lots of good stuff. Not much on the Westrenslope.

On a different website, a rodder suggested stick with the vacuum motor and use Rain-X.
Do you know if a vacuum wiper motor will work well with a LT1 engine and stock cam?
Thanks

I used the one that was in my 51 ford but had to clean and rebuilt it. It really didn't work well at low rpms. But step on the gas and away it went.

Run a vacuum pump, then it will always work. Vacuum wipers were notorious for stalling out when you hit the gas, like right when you needed them most to pass a semi.
Most diesels have a vacuum pump, some gas cars like certain 80s Eldorados had belt driven ones and I remember some Cavaliers having an electric one down in the front fender.
