Went to an Estate sale on Friday. Lots of tools and stuff. The vehicles were price way out of reach.

Mercury for $2000

Those old Wiltons are the best ever made. You did REAL well. Were you referring to the flathead or the little Anglia (I think Anglia) that sold for $ 600? If not, what did that flathead go for ?

Looked like a great sale.

Is that an Anglia? I thought is was a Crosley. Well, anyway it sold for $600.
The flatty went with the Merc. Did have Fenton heads and Edelbrock manifold.

Yeah, I asked how much for the vise. When he said $60, I couldn't get the wallet out fast enough! :D

A big old iron shop vice is one of the best and first tools someone should buy IMO. I went through a few of the cast iron ones, like Sears sells, and actually cracked one in half when I was tightening it up. Then I found a big old steel one at a garage sale, paid $ 50 for it, and I can beat on it, heat and bend stuff with it, and it never complains.

If those cars have been sitting there for 5 years that is a pretty good indication the owner thinks they are made of platinum. Some day he will move or die and the scrappers will have a field day. :(

Being a van, wouldn't that Anglia be a Thames?

I thought it was an Anglia, but I'm no expert. So, I looked it up.

Panel vans were badged Thames 300E.

The little wagons came in two models, Escort and Squire. Escorts were bare bones, Squires were upscale and had wood trim like American Fords. They're still Anglias from what I found.

I had a freind who had the panel. Cute little thing, painted bright orange with chrome reverse wheels. I think ongoing electrical woes were it's demise from his ownership. I tried to help but got lost at "Positive to earth on dynamo"lol.

Yeah, Lucas and the English sure had a sense of humour didn't they.
