It's called Shade Street Rod and Custom. He shared a building with a computer store. The fire started in the computer shop early in the morning and spread to the rod shop. Mike the owner of the rod shop got a phone call and was there soon enought o save a fiberglass sedan the was just inside the front door. Some fire damage to the roof but it can be fixed. The 49 Chevy truck suffered damage from fire and falling debris. Along the left side wall are three Model A's covered by the building roof that fell down on them. Lots of damage to tools and parts in the garage.

Amazingly Mike was able to save most of the cars and tools and moved his shop to another location. He had an open house yesterday with a cruise-in. Here's some pictures of the fiberglass sedan that only needs a roof cover. The three Model A's were not damaged because the fork lift parked next to them supported the fallen shop roof as did the 49 truck which took a hard hit on it's top but is repairable. The 67 Dodge convertable was outside the old shop and got fire damage to the right side and convertable top.

Wow, he was fairly lucky, that could have been really much worse. I worry about fire too, not so much from our shop because we are pretty careful and stay around for a while after welding and grinding, but our next door neighbor is a deli/restauarant, and they are not exactly very careful about stuff.

Don

This is a fire of this sort that makes me sick to my stomach for the people impacted.
Glad he was able to recover, my buddy wasn't that lucky :(

I think the fire department was quick thinking to wet down stuff in the shop and so fire damage was limited. The fire caused the roof to colapse but not much fire damage to the cars. When I first saw to building I figured the roof colapsed on the car probably destroyed them but the fork lift being in the right place held the roof off the cars...bad luck and good luck at the same time.
