I was at an auction sale a while back, and bought an old water pressure tank you would use in a well system. The tank is scrap, but the sight glass that was on it was the prize. (A whole 5 bucks invested.) All the metal parts are brass, and the glass tube is real glass, not plastic. Perfect for the sight glass on the 23 T oval fuel tank I need to build. A little spit 'n' polish and it will look like it grew there. Another piece of the puzzle found.;)

Ok, here it is.

That looks just like the sight tube I have for my build (page 31 if interested)

Im curious if your tube came from a similar tank with the riveted construction? Im hoping to save my tank and make it the gas tank... I will have to relocate the sight tube though...

anyway good buy..!

It looks like one of these: http://www.siliconsolar.com/sight-glass-for-drainback-solar-hot-water-tank-p-50009.html

I'd say it's definitely worth $5. I would love to find a unique sight glass to put on my tank. Well done, sir! [cl

That's almost identical to what I have, wonder what they sell for new?

The tank I have is a welded unit, about 18 inches across and 5 ft tall. The top is domed but the bottom is an inverted dome giving it a flat base/edge to stand on. There is a painted stencil of a name but it's pretty faded, but it was made in Ontario Canada. Has what's left of a 'Ontario Pressure Vessel' decal on it as well. Not anywhere near as cool as the one you have with the riveted bell ends, that will make a great fuel tank.
